Maintaining Your Air Conditioner

Maintaining Your Air Conditioner Installation of air conditioners: imaginary threat
The high popularity and availability of microclimatic aggregates provoked the opposite effect – with the growth of sales, rumors are intensely exaggerated that the installation of an air conditioner can lead to various diseases, sometimes very serious ones. As an example of such a disease, the “legionnaires disease” caused by legionella, the most dangerous bacterium, is most often cited.

Split systems do not accumulate moisture – through drainage, it is immediately discharged to the outside. Inside the air conditioner is dry, and in a dry environment, the bacteria instantly die.

In modern air conditioners, manufacturers install special germicidal filters that are a serious barrier to viruses and bacteria. You should know! Proper installation of a domestic air conditioner makes legionellosis outbreak impossible. International statistics and long-term monitoring confirm that there are no cases of the disease in which the causative agent would be detected in the split-system (modern air conditioner).

Air conditioner maintenance: protecting your own health
No less common myth – viruses and fungi, which are allegedly carried by air flow throughout the room. The situation is partly plausible, but only if the maintenance of a household air conditioner was not performed or does not comply with the prescribed schedule.
Modern household units have a multistage, often duplicate air purification system, which provides for the capture of micron particles and also filters unpleasant third-party odors. The efficiency of cleaning also largely depends on the user, who must timely and fully carry out maintenance of the air conditioner – change the filters, wash the case parts, if necessary – vacuum the indoor unit.

The design of the block of air conditioners of TOP manufacturers is such that the unit can be disassembled for cleaning, cleaning and maintenance on its own even without the use of specialized tools. In the instruction manual, the order of the technological operations is described in detail, and a list of recommended chemicals is given. When the installation of the air conditioner is completed, simply specify which operations and how often you can carry out yourself, and which – by calling the appropriate specialists. The following advice is not without logic either – regularly air the air-conditioned room: there is a slight loss of electricity, but the oxygen in the room will increase significantly.

Household conditioners and colds: who is to blame?
Modern city dwellers are more susceptible to angina or commonplace acute respiratory infections in summer than in winter. And blame for this reason, air conditioners, which is only partly true. Domestic air conditioners only indirectly provoke colds, but the main “merit” in the increase in the incidence rate belongs to the users themselves, who do not comply with the simplest requirements:

Temperature mode. The temperature in the room should not radically (a dozen or more degrees) differ from the street one. The greater the difference – the greater the risk of the disease, especially with frequent movement from one temperature to another.

Place where installation of domestic air conditioning. The exiting (cooled) jet should not directly hit the person. However, modern split-systems have modes that allow to change the direction and mix the flows, ensuring uniform cooling of the entire volume. Remember! Most of the stories about the dangers that domestic air conditioners pose are in fact unnecessarily exaggerated. With proper technical maintenance and timely maintenance, split-systems are no more dangerous than the usual iron.
